This Privacy Policy explains how Guiware LLC (“Explored,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the Explored mobile app and this website (together, the “Service”).
Explored turns the places you go into a personal map of where you’ve been. Because that means working with your location, we’ve tried to keep this policy clear and to the point. The short version: your map is yours, we don’t sell your data, and we collect only what we need to make the app work.
Information We Collect
Location data
With your permission, Explored collects your device’s location in the background as you move so it can fill in your map. This is the core of how the app works. You grant location access through your device’s operating system, you can change or revoke that permission at any time in your device settings, and you can pause tracking from within the app whenever you like. While tracking is paused, we do not collect new location data.
Map and coverage data
As you move, the app generates the data that makes up your map — the areas you’ve covered, the cities and states you’ve visited, and your coverage statistics over time. This information is tied to your account so your map can be restored if you switch or reset your phone.
Account information
To save your progress and sync it across devices, we maintain an account for you. This includes basic identifiers such as your email address and authentication credentials.
Messages you send us
If you contact us through our contact page, we receive the information you provide — such as your name, email address, and the contents of your message — so we can respond.
Device and diagnostic data
We may collect limited technical information such as device type, operating system version, app version, and crash or performance diagnostics. We use this to keep the app stable and to fix problems.
Purchases
Explored is a paid app. Your purchase is processed by the Apple App Store, not by us. We receive confirmation of your purchase but never your payment card details, which are handled entirely by Apple under its own privacy policy.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Build, display, and update your personal map.
- Save your progress to your account and restore it across your devices.
- Maintain your account and keep the Service secure.
- Diagnose problems, fix bugs, and improve the app.
- Respond to your questions and support requests.
- Comply with legal obligations.
How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share your location or map with other users or with advertisers. Your map is private to your account. We share information only in these limited circumstances:
- Service providers. We use trusted infrastructure and hosting providers to operate the Service. They process data only on our behalf, under confidentiality obligations, and only as needed to provide their services to us.
- Legal reasons. We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or enforceable governmental request, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users, the public, or Guiware LLC.
- Business transfers. If Guiware LLC is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this policy.
Data Security
We protect your information using industry-standard safeguards. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and access is restricted to what is necessary to operate the Service. No method of transmission or storage is ever completely secure, but we work to protect your information and to promptly address any issues that arise.
Data Retention
We keep your account and map data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. When you delete your account, we delete the personal data associated with it, except where we are required to retain certain information to comply with legal obligations or resolve disputes.
Your Rights and Choices
You are in control of your data. You can:
- Pause location tracking at any time from within the app.
- Change or revoke location and other permissions in your device settings.
- Access, correct, or request deletion of your personal information.
- Delete your account, which removes your associated personal data as described above.

Children’s Privacy
Explored is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.
International Users
Explored is operated from the United States. If you use the Service from outside the United States, your information will be processed and stored in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your country.
Third-Party Services
The Service relies on a few third parties, including the Apple App Store for distribution and purchases, and mapping and reference data providers. When you use Explored in a compatible vehicle’s browser (Cabin View), the connection is paired to your account to display your live map; we do not share your data with the vehicle manufacturer beyond what is needed to show your map on the screen. These third parties have their own privacy practices, which we do not control.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. If we make material changes, we will take reasonable steps to let you know.
